ABU DHABI, 13 October 2021: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) carried out inspection of 18,824 products of multiple categories in the third quarter of 2021 in Abu Dhabi.

The inspections at the sales outlets and commercial offices also included 2,319 verification tests of legal measurement tools as well as 4,554 electronic products.
The field visits and inspections carried out by the QCC’s Markets and Consumer Services Sector were aimed at ensuring the safety of products and veracity of legal measurement tools used in markets across the emirate. QCC said these inspections protected consumer rights while safeguarding fairness in the market.

Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Markets and Consumer Services Sector of QCC said the sector notched up significant results in Q3 2021. He said total inspections touched 308 in the case of pre and verified packaged products spanning 7,080 samples. QCC recalled 28 products from the market covering 521 commodities, while 21 products were rectified numbering 1,759 commodities.
He said the field inspection visits and monitoring of online sales platforms helped reduce the sale and circulation of non-conforming, fraudulent and counterfeit products in Abu Dhabi. These endeavors also helped maintain confidence in the markets since it ensured compliance of products to stipulated specifications and standards.

Al Mazrouei said that through these strategic activities, QCC supported sustainable development contributing to enhancing Abu Dhabi's stature as a global economic hub. QCC also worked with its strategic partners to build confidence in national products and in the quality and conformity systems of the emirate benchmarked too the highest of international standards.
Inspections also ensured that products in the market were in compliance with mandatory norms of the country, and the four focus pillars of these activities included ensuring that recalled products are not traded, restricted products obtain conformity certificates, ensuring availability of explanatory information for products and taking Samples of restricted products and testing in laboratories to ensure their safety.
