Abu Dhabi, March 15 2023: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) today said that 8 of the Council’s inspectors received the certificates of Judicial Enforcement Officer from the Judicial Training Academy of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, while another 18 in the same capacity renewed their certificates after passing the relevant exams after basic training for two months.
His Excellency Dr. Helal Humaid Al Kaabi, Secretary General of the Council, handed over the certificates to the inspectors and praised them for their important role in monitoring the Abu Dhabi markets to ensure that the mandatory requirements and technical regulations and UAE standards as per the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology are followed.
The Council continuously seeks to develop, improve and sustain its services by adopting and implementing the best international methodologies and practices, and through optimal use of available resources, said His Excellency. Enhancing the efficiency of employees, empowering them through training, in addition to effective and efficient planning for implementation, follow-ups and measurement of services were also part of the continuous commitment of the Council. These measures help develop local industries, enhance their competitiveness, and ensure consumer safety and rights in Abu Dhabi, he said.
In 2022, QCC implemented over 14,000 metrological verifications on legal measurement tools in Abu Dhabi markets, including in service stations selling petroleum derivatives, floor scales for trucks, freight scales, and tools for measuring length, and mobile and fixed tire pressure gauges.
His Excellency said the Council’s inspectors also play a key role in improving and developing verification services for pre-packaged products to match the metrological data on the label with the act actual quantity of the product and its conformity with the relevant legislative stipulations. Last year over 1,000 pre-packaged products were verified.
The field verifications of pre-packaged products included visits to factories and major suppliers of solid and liquid products across food and building materials. Medical measurement tools such as blood pressure devices, medical needles and thermometers were also checked at the sales outlets and health facilities.
In addition, the Council’s Markets and Consumer Services Sector inspected over 70,000 registered products during field inspections, and inspected over 7,300 registered products on online sales platforms.
The field inspections aim to ensure the safety of the restricted products and their conformity with the relevant technical regulations and standards specifications. The most important of these products were electrical products, children’s toys, vehicle tires, household chemical cleaners, tobacco products, cigarettes and food contact products
