Abu Dhabi, UAE 23/02/2021: The Central testing Laboratory of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) today announced the launch of a new service to provide food products and nutritional checks through mobile laboratories.

In a statement, QCC said the first-of-its–kind service will debut at the upcoming International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2021) where a mobile laboratory will be deployed to do food checks at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) venue during the show from February 21-25.

QCC said the mobile laboratory service has been launched as part of its partner programme to support food regulators as well as catering and food products’ companies. The mobile laboratory stationed at the IDEX 2021 venue will ensure the safety of food products being offered to visitors and exhibitors by conducting quick and efficient quality and nutritional conformity checks.
Engineer Abdullah Hassan Al-Maeeni, Executive Director of the Central Testing Laboratory of QCC said that the mobile food check services have been added to strengthen the laboratory’s capabilities further in Abu Dhabi and bring more flexibility to conduct food checks at different locations of the emirate.

As part of this strategic plan, and in cooperation with regulatory authorities and partners, the mobile laboratory has extended its services to event venues and other locations offering checks including microbiology analyses on food products using the latest and contemporary technology. The laboratory will also review other important food safety and quality indicators such as product validity and expiry dates, among others, to ensure freshness and quality.
The Director of the Life Sciences Department at the Central Testing Laboratory, Ahmed Al-Sharif, said that the mobile laboratory will deploy a skilled Nationals workforce at IDEX 2021 to inspect food products traded at the expo venue. This will ensure quality and safety of the food products in conformity with regulatory specifications. Significantly, these on-site checks will be conducted on prepared and ready-to-eat food products as well, he said.

Samara bin Salem, Director of Technical Affairs at the Central Testing Laboratory, said that there are plans to leverage mobile laboratory services across various sectors. A strategy is under formulation to maximize the benefit of these services through various methods as well as by using the latest technologies for rapid and accurate checks as part of QCC’s future vision.
