ABU DHABI, 28th January: The Markets and Consumer Services Sector of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) today said it has approved the inclusion of seven new private sector establishments to its Quality Partner Program.

 

The entities have been added to the programme in appreciation of their role and contribution to the Abu Dhabi market, as well as based on their support in enhancing market monitoring activities for commercial fairness.

With the inclusion of the new establishments, the total number of partners in the programme now stands at 69.The membership certificates and shields were handed over to the new partners during a visit of Saif Ali Al Hosani, Director of the Market Monitoring Department accompanied by a team to these establishments in January 2022. The new partners include Early Education, Matouk Factories, Al Jazeera Jewelry, Baniyas Jewelry, Al Awadi Jewelry and Samer Jewelry.

“The Quality Partner Programme is based on the principle of trust, cooperation and partnership with economic and commercial establishments. In addition, mutual responsibility between the parties is ingrained in the programme with the aim to achieve the common goals of creating and fostering fair, sustainable and trustworthy markets that will contribute to the economic growth of Abu Dhabi,” said Saif Ali Al Hosani, adding that the initiative to increase membership in the programme comes within this framework.

He said that the Market Monitoring Department is the field arm of QCC, mandated to safeguard both traders and consumers alike. The department conducts daily field inspections and oversight to ensure that establishments comply with relevant laws, technical regulations and standards of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general. 
In addition, the department also monitors the implementation of judgments and decisions made by the Council of Ministers from time to time on metrological verification of legal measurement instruments, pre-packaged products, restricted products, as well as application of agreements signed between the Council and the concerned authorities.

Al Hosani said that the Quality Partner Program strives to guarantee the rights of both the merchants and consumers in the interest of supporting fairness in the market to support the emirate’s economy.
The partner programme helps the continuity of coordination efforts to protect society from potential risks from controlled products, legal measurement tools and pre-packaged products, apart from advancing joint cooperation between the Council and the private sector. Moreover, the mechanism also helps implementing voluntary compliance procedures for international regulations, legislation and safety standards.
