Conformity and Standards Services Sector

The Conformity and Standards Services Sector, within Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, facilitates the development of technical documents which includes technical standards and guidelines, through active engagement with relevant stakeholders which includes public and private sectors experts as well as experts from academia. The Conformity and Standards Services Sector strives to harmonize existing standards and standards related documents through acting as a neutral facilitator representing the interests of all Abu Dhabi government and industry. The sector also coordinates with Ministry of Industry and Advanced technology for documents aimed to be adopted on federal level.

Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs)
According to ISO/IEC 17000, Conformity Assessment is defined as "demonstration that specified requirements relating to a product, process, system, person or body are fulfilled".
Conformity assessment bodies (CABs) are the bodies performing conformity assessment, which includes testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, medical laboratories, inspection bodies, and certification bodies.
Conformity Assessment Bodies Services (CABS), aims to makes sure that Abu Dhabi CABs are meeting the mandatory requirements as issued by the regulatory bodies. In addition to that, CABS conducting developing programs, such as training and proficiency testing programs (PTPs) to enable Abu Dhabi CABs to be nationally and internationally recognized, which is finally, facilitate the trade between Abu Dhabi and other countries and increase the confidence in the services provided by the CABs working in Abu Dhabi.

 

Conformity Schemes
A conformity scheme is a technical document specifying products and personnel requirements to satisfy specific standards and specifications of the technical regulations and relevant regulatory requirements. The conformity scheme is being developed in cooperation with industrial and regulatory stakeholders. It includes occupational terms and technical specifications, identifying the performance and quality of all products, professions, and systems according to Abu Dhabi’s market needs. The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council issues conformity schemes for products and personnel conformity services within QCC scope.



Products Conformity Schemes
Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council through cooperation with private and governmental sectors and strategic partners, develop the necessary specifications and technical requirements for specific product, to ensure the safety of those goods products and improve their quality and effective performance. The products are determined according to the private and governmental sectors’ requirements. 

Personnel Conformity Services Schemes
Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council, in cooperation with the concerned partners in the Emirates of Abu Dhabi and different private and academic sectors, develops the Personnel Conformity Services schemes according to the approved occupational terms, which include health, safety, performance, and qualification requirements set by regulatory bodies and the working groups. The conformity scheme includes capabilities, efficiencies, and skills that should be met by the individual practicing certain professions.

 

Standards Services Department
The Council, through the Standards Services Sector, contributes to the governance of the Emirates of Abu Dhabi Standards. This is achieved by adopting a working methodology that ensures the involvement of all relevant stakeholders from the government, private, and academic sectors. The Standards Services Department is responsible for the following tasks:

• Leading the processes of unifying and harmonizing technical documents at the level of Abu Dhabi Emirate considering the Council's adopted strategic objectives.
• Providing opinions on proposed Emirates' standards(UAE.S) and Technical regulations.
• Raising awareness within government entities and the private sector about the importance of standards, quality, and conformity.
• Collaborating with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) in developing the Emirates' standards(UAE.S) by proposing the approved technical documents for studying their adoption at the federal level.

Standing Technical Committee
 The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) has established a standing technical committee for (Abu Dhabi Technical Specification) with the aim of supporting the governance process of the standards system at the Emirates level. The committee recommends the adoption of relevant technical documents, and it includes more than 25 relevant entities associated with the work of the council. Through its subordinate working groups, the committee sets priorities for standards needs in Abu Dhabi and promotes the use of both UAE and international standards across various sectors, including the industrial sector.
