Dr. Helal Al Kaabi, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) affirmed that the Council has made many outstanding achievements during the third quarter 2020. The achievements included offering more services by the different sectors of the Council. He pointed out that the preliminary figures and results clearly show the success of the strategy adopted by the Council which aims to enhance and develop the quality infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, which in turn shall support growth of the key different sectors in the Emirate, maintain the food security and products’ safety and enhance the consumer protection and achieve the market fairness.

The achievements included offering more services by the different sectors of the Council. He pointed out that the preliminary figures and results clearly show the success of the strategy adopted by the Council which aims to enhance and develop the quality infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, which in turn shall support growth of the key different sectors in the Emirate, maintain the food security and products’ safety and enhance the consumer protection and achieve the market fairness.

The services implemented covered many sectors including Conformity and Calibration, the Central Testing Laboratory, Consumer and Markets Services and Emirates Metrology Institute.

Service implementation in the Conformity and Specifications at Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) during the first quarter 2020 in the different activity sectors has contributed in development of the services provided by the Government and private sectors to the partners and customer. The conformity services and specifications sectors achieved 12 implemented specifications as well as issuing and developing 12 technical documents. 

The services provided by the Central Testing Lab completed more than 78113 laboratory tests during the third quarter 2020, which reflect the Council keenness to develop the quality of the laboratories in the country, and to maintain the quality of the products offered in the markets and the systems used in the different work sectors.

Additionally, the Markets and Consumer Services Sector at Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council made field visits to the markets and commercial centers during the third quarter of 2020, with an aim to ensure the products safety and the legal scales used in Abu Dhabi, and  consumer rights protection, and to achieve the market fairness through inspection of 22083 products in the market and verification of 2660 legal measurement instruments, and testing 6260 packed commodities, 200 products from the  factories and suppliers and 53 products of the products sold in the markets.

The Emirates Metrology Institute of Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council provided various services to the partners during the third quarter 2020, which supported the government and private sector entities in implementing the best standards, with issuance of 219 calibration certificates, and 3 consultancy services, as well as 47 intercomparisons and one training program.
