ABU DHABI, November 24, 2021: The Central Testing Laboratory of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), has conducted 4,516 quality and conformity tests on honey products in Abu Dhabi this year.
In a statement on QCC’s participation in the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Week, held to strengthen and support a sustainable agricultural development and food security system, Eng. Abdullah Hassan Al Maaini, Executive Director of the Central Testing Laboratory said more than 745 honey product samples were tested.
He said the tests were done as part of QCC’s commitment to support key economic and consumer sectors and to ensure food security in Abu Dhabi.
Al-Maaini said that latest equipment are used at the laboratory to test products enabling concerned regulatory authorities and merchants to verify the quality of honey. This also prevents any commercial fraud, he said, adding that the laboratory’s aim is to ensure that the honey products traded in the market conform to mandated standards and specifications set by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology.
The laboratory has achieved tangible results in supporting food and agricultural products’ safety in Abu Dhabi. It has also expedited the pace of testing for food and agri products so that results are now delivered in three days compared to 7 earlier. This has also led to attracting investors wishing to provide diverse and efficient services in the sector, in turn resulting in positive impact on food safety index. In addition, an effective communication channel has also been established that helps understand the needs and expectations of all stakeholders.
