Abu Dhabi, December 10, 2022: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) participated in the first session of the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety, from December 6 to 8 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Eng. Abdullah Hassan Al Maeeni, Executive Director of the Central Testing Laboratories Sector, said that the participation highlighted the Council's commitment to develop the quality infrastructure in line with its strategic expansion of the scope of testing and conformity assessment services across several verticals, and particularly in food and beverages.
He said the Council is committed to make the Central Testing Laboratory a part of the global laboratories’ system by developing its technological and technical capabilities and strengthening its services with highly skilled and experienced human resources, aiming at developing it into a global center for testing and conformity assessment services.
"Significantly, the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition is one of the most important specialized exhibitions and the Council’s participation is in line with its stature as a responsible body in Abu Dhabi providing a wide range of laboratory tests for food and beverage products, including chemical, microbiological and radiological examinations," he said.
His Excellency explained that the food and beverage tests carried out by the Central Testing Laboratory were an integral part of supporting efficient production and manufacturing processes for safe and high-quality products, as the analysis and testing using the latest methods and technology helps identify risk factors and in turn improve the quality and efficiency of these products.
The laboratory’s food and water tests include for pesticide residues, heavy metal traces, nutritional values, mycotoxins, pollutants, veterinary drug residues, pathogenic microorganisms, proteins, carbohydrates, including for all types of meat. Tests including physical examinations, help identify adulteration, genetically modified foods, quality of fats and oils, presence of radioactive materials and organic chemical pollutants, he added.
The Abu Dhabi International Food Fair was organized by ADNEC in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, and witnessed significant local and international participation from major companies specialized in the food, beverage and hospitality sectors, in addition to a large number of experts, specialists and decision-makers from these vital sectors.
